Weekend Highlights
- If you're staying in town then Hydrate has Chicago legend Ralphi Rosario taking control of the DJ booth on Saturday, June 7. Meanwhile, down the street on that same night at Circuit Night Club, the "Release" party features DJ Psycho Bitch after-hours from 2am - 5am. End your weekend at Berlin with its monthly Madonna-Rama featuring DJ Riley York on Sunday, June 8. If you prefer your music performed live, then you'll probably want to catch "The Flesh Hungry Dog Show" on Jackhammer's stage @ 9pm on Friday, June 6 is the place. The monthly queer, alternative, rock 'n' burlesque cabaret features Cobalt & the Hired Guns, Chicago lounge-rock institution Bric-a-Brac, and newcomers to the FHD Show, The Gwen Mitchell Experiment. Hosted by Chicago rock impresario Gary Airedale, the show will also feature "Bag of Fun" prize giveaways from The Pleasure Chest, groovy movies, and DJ Sky. The Specials
-- A/X Armani Exchange is back to having DJs spin 2pm-8pm at the downtown location (in the Nordstrom building) and features DJ Chris Spinazzola on Saturday, June 7 and DJ Ron G on Saturday, June 14. The sensational singer Elle Scott is making an appearance in Chicago at Alhambra Palace Restaurant (1240 W. Randolph St) on Tuesday, June 17. The "Meet & Greet" takes place 6pm-9pm and will also include DJ sets by Mixin Marc & Mark Picchiotti. House music reigns supreme every Monday night at the long-running "Boom Boom Room" @ Green Dolphin Street with host Byrd Bardot and residents DJs Michael Serafini, Diz, JustJoey & Uncle Milty. Stacey Pullen and Gene Farris join the fun on June 9 while superstar Louis Vega & Kevin Hedge are on tap for June 16. Over at the new "Monday Social: Beats + Bass + Rhythm" party at Debonair Social Club (1575 N. Milwaukee Ave.), resident DJs Brian Gardner Specs, Diamonds & Willy Joy are in charge of the music. & Boxers Oh My! Another Andersonville venue with barely clad hotties is @mosphere on Friday and Saturday nights w/ DJs Eric Hall and Timmy Loop, respectively. Meanwhile down in Boystown at Lucky Horseshoe, tantalize the customers while prancing on top of the bar seven nights a week. Lots of visible male flesh is a five nights a week occurrence at Cocktail with the Spank Go-Go Boys. House music is the soundtrack for the dancers featuring Pete Augusta (Sundays), Michael Serafini (Tuesdays), Timmy Loop (Thursdays) and Freddie Bain (Fridays). Boystown's
Best Bets Across the street, Roscoe's has just re-opened its sidewalk café and presents "Drag Race 2008" hosted by Frida Lay on Tuesdays and "Male Call" w/ the effervescent Miss Foozie on Sundays. The new "First Ward" party seems to be an instant hit at Scarlet Bar on Sundays w/ DJ Luis M, Rene Romero, and Dhanna. And of course you can't miss out on $1 drinks at Spin's "What The F&*k Wednesdays." Both the boyz and the girlz gather and drink together at The Closet while fun, manly and friendly crowds hang out at Boystown bars Buck's, Little Jim's, North End and Bobby Loves. Nightly after-hours dancing can be had on either end as well as in the middle of Boystown. The southern edge has Berlin offering an alternative vibe with Friday's "Cosmix" party (DJ Greg Haus), Saturday's "Twisted" party (DJs Chester & Larissa), and Thursday's "Elevated" (DJ Heather Doble). On the northern flank, Charlie's has an hi-NRG groove featuring DJs Lightning LuLu, Mixmaster F, and Kevy B. In the heart of Boystown, Hydrate line-up will include guest DJs Mark Picchiotti (Friday, June 13) and David Knapp (Saturday, June 14) joining weekday residents Jeanette (Sundays), Laura B (Mondays) and Greg Dresche (Thursdays). Niche Marketing On the cabaret music front, Gentry On State has been delighting downtown patrons for years while other outposts with a piano include Davenport's in Wicker Park, 3160 in Lakeview and Cornelia's in the heart of Boystown. When it comes to urban flair, the "Xotik" crowd gets down on Saturdays @ Tokyo 21 w/ DJ Anton busting out R&B, hip-hop, and house. In Boystown, the phat beats get played @ Spin for the "Ear-Rotic" party w/ DJ Stoney on Saturdays, June 7. For Everyone On the south side Jeffrey Pub has Chicago legend DJ Dana Powell "house-in' it up' every Friday while on the same night in River West hip-hop is added to the 4/4 beats at Prop House featuring DJ Ransom.
